#370 by Daniel Stevens It is definitely affected by morale!! - which is hurting me badly because of the ridiculous money staff want shortly after joining your team and reaching the 'superb' power position - which means they have had employment for half a season!!!! My junior designer wants a new contract and wants bonuses of 2m + and 500k salary!! because he wont agree to more sensible offers his morale has plummeted bringing my max research down from excellent to okay!! - i cant even sack him as he has a contract till season 6!
He is ranked 50th so not a surprise he wants a lot of money. Besides you can just terminate his contract for a fee.
#371 by Dan 'Ross Brawn... Mills Isn't morale quite counter productive if you are in a slump then?
If you lose the first few races of a season with failures or being last, how will your research improve if your morale is capping it?
You are left with having a crap car; and a crap research level making it harder to jump out that slump.
Then your drivers have low morale so won't perform as well; alongside staff morale. Surely this is a big slide down?
Isn't that the same in real life? Things go bad, people get upset, team struggles more. There are a few things you can do to get out of the slump.
Adam - a little bit more 'research' into my team and you will realise that said designer has been only with my team for the last 4 seasons and has gained that rank from being unknown - bit unrealistic as only won div 3 last year!! - also yes my rank 50 junior wants more money than my rank 22 head designer!!! - i fail to see how you think this is correct!! - besides the fact that the rankings are mostly inaccurate my main beef is with the 'power position' as i think that is making him more greedy for cash.
Yes i could terminate his contract and pay him 6m - but just to solve a morale issue? don't think that is too wise do you? - also then i loose a good designer who i have been using since i started and planned to try to build up to head designer.
I can understand him wanting more money for a new contract - but for him to want more money now with another 2 seasons to go and for this 1 guy to have such a massive affect on the whole design team whilst i am unable to do anything about it - i don't think that's realistic at all.
just so you can compare - your head designer is getting 1m salery and champ bonus 1.2, win700k, podium 400k and points 250k.
mine wants 500k salery, 3m champ bonus!!! 1.5m win, 900 podium, and 600k points!! even if i just score 2 points finishes my 'junior' gets paid more than your rank 9!!
As i said - my man doesn't just want more money - he wants loads more!
The money the person wants isn't solely based on rank, hence why the lower ranked one will want more than the higher ranked one. Of course he has a Superb power position as he has over 2 years left to run on his contract and knows that you will need to spend a lot to get rid of him.
Up to you whether you sack him or not though as I don't know your full financial position. All I know is that it costs less in total to sack him than it does to keep him.
If I win a race and you get 2nd and 3rd, I will still be paying more than you. It's only when we both get drivers in the same position and we both have winners where you are paying more unless you outperform me.
And can you please stop swearing. This is a family game where kids are playing and their Parents may not necessarily wish to see this kind of language in the game. There are also some people that are offended by it.
errr - you can't really compare wages if there are different results!
but anyway yes i am only on 5m income from sponsors so at the mo am loosing about 800k a week - this is being addressed for next season as my income from sponsors will be higher. But still don't really want to part with several millions when i actually like the designer and want to keep him for long time. Don't you agree that his demands are too high? I could sack him and then re hire him (which i may do at start of new season) but i risk loosing him to the other teams - who by the way are also trying to sign him and as they haven't also must disagree with his demands. If morale had a slight effect i could live with it but 2 levels is a massive drop especially now that it is looking that this will have a big impact on next seasons designs
Don't forget guys staff members have different attributes. Loyalty, Professionalism, Charisma, and Ambition all have an influence on staff negotiations. Some staff will want more simply because they are greedy and unprofessional whereas as some will accept cheaper contracts because they are not very ambitious but still very professional.
Im assuming it's Woody right Dan? He is good and rated 50, im guessing he thinks he should be a head designer at least. Assuming you have tried him on a mixed contract?
