I have a driver that had a contract to season 11 they had superb morale but i offered them a new contract anyway, they got a 5 fold increase in wages, morale dropped to good and they now want a new contract for 3 times the money all in the space of 5 hours, how can this possibly be right.

A driver with low morale is now probably a second a lap slower. Or I give him a million plus a week plus a million in bonus payments, I was better leaving him at 75,000 a week with the chance he gets poached.

How can you be punished for giving someone a 500% pay rise?

One of my staff went from something like an 85k wage to demanding 1.3-2.4 MILLION basic salary. Not including bonuses.

He wasn't renewed.

Such leaps need to be controlled somehow as an X percent increase year on year as that sort of figure is silly.

Not only will nobody afford it; but it will simply take drivers and staff out the market permanently.

That, or we will just end up all signing long term deals 6 seasons in advance for very low prices.

that wont even work - after 2 seasons they want a new contract anyway - then morale drops if its not offered and then they get to leave immediately!

@ Sanchez: It is simple their power position so no it will decrease again at some point say a season or two not working.

Think it about it like when you are looking for a new job and you get lets say 4 offers for new jobs your confidence in your own ability might actually be missed placed. So you ask for more money or better conditions losing all four offers.

People do it every day on either small or large decisions.

I know I made a similar mistake about four months ago looking for a better shift & more money so i moved to a different company that I ended up not fitting well with. So i have have ended up with harder work, less money but a better shift.

Sadly, Yup!! And I now have a broken ankle from my new job as well so I have time on my hands compared to before when I was working 4 X10.5hrs shifts!!

Ankle won't be able to be walked on for at least another 6 weeks and then rehab; which I heard can take up to another 7 mnths depending on how much strength I lose over the next month. Still don't even have a real cast on and still may end up in surgery but won't know until Monday.
