Just seen the changes to tyres for next season.

Basically we will be limited to 26 sets a week, with no carry over each week.

As someone who gets through a lot of tyres every week, I really don't see this as particularly restrictive.

Just wanted to put this out here for Frank to see, as I think that the limit should be lower, say 20-22.

I, for example may use:

4 sets per driver in testing = 12
3 sets per driver in Quali =6 (next season)
3 sets per driver in the race = 6

That would total 24 without being restrictive.

We should have to make choices such as, less qualifying laps for fresher tyres in a race. Or using a used set in the race. Or if we are trying to reveal our chassis potential, having to sacrifice that weeks quali and race tyres to do so quickly, or take less pain but take two race weeks to reveal the chassis potential etc.

But the ability to see predicted weather for the whole race would be nice, as i its a mix weather race, tyre ordering could be an issue.

Just thought I would provide some feedback on the proposed change for Frank.

John, dont forget that your logic is based on your tyre supply which is a pretty decent one.

Teams using Pointer or StickGrip may need quite a few more tyres during testing/races as they dont really last as long.

Also i guess at some point Frank might actually alter the tyre deg for certain tracks so that we may need more than usual in a particular week.

Just food for thought, 26 sets of tyres may be easily doable for top teams but not necessarily for all teams in the future.

Not irrelevant at all, i agree with what you are saying its just a bit tricky to get a spot on number without knowing everything Frank knows.

Im intrigued to see how many sets of tyres will be allowed during testing weeks as i generally use quite a few then...

Nice to see some interesting changes happen though, i like it when things get mixed up :)

I hate having limitations on things as it always benefits those that have the advantage at the start. Forcing teams to focus on testing or racing means teams can't do that big push every week to catch up without losing ground in the championship.

Some teams already can. Others, like myself, can't. This needs to be fixed one way or the other.

Good point John, I actually based myself on the real F1 number of 13 per driver and just doubled that.
I plan on changing the wear so that it's more realistic (and get rid of the bug that resets it). Therefore I think it's probably best to reduce the value of 26 for now. Would 18 (or 9 per driver) be better?

Same for every week.

Huh? Never heard of this bug before?

Well im not sure i agree with a tyre limit during testing weeks (1,2, &8), it will effectively force teams to go with the best tyre supplier so that they can do more laps and actually reveal part potential in order to develop and progress.

How many sets of tyres do F1 teams get in testing? There doesn't seem to be a limit.

As for the weather, you can see a lap by lap account usually on the first day of testing if you look at the race page. I think teams should know if it is likely to rain during the race as this is info that would be available, it also allows them to consider other strategies in testing and prepare properly for the race.

It was discussed in the div 1 chat ahead of the last race. Basically, some people in that division can see all the weather for the race on Wednesday whereas some of us only see it after we have qualified.

Fully agree with this although the same can be said for every week.

I think they get 35 sets for the four days. The 13 that Frank has stated are only dry compounds and doesn't include the wet compounds they get.

mmm great idea to limit tires for each week,
Will we need to order our tires before hand at the start of each week or will it just be a count down thing based on how many tires we create?

Could be interesting, I'd quite like to see the game forcing the use of both compounds in a dry race as well...
