Basically its a good change for the game, in the long term, but to implement it right now is suicidal to what I'd imagine is at least half the teams (or more).
Right now it benefits all teams that have already built good parts as a base. They will effectively be ahead all season. Just keep track of those players giving it the thumbs up - I bet they are all teams riding high right now!
The change is good, but it needs to be postponed for next season; or at least the mid season break.
Last season I set my staff and drivers in Week 1 and only changed my 2nd driver once. No other changes.
This season, at the start I assigned vacant staff roles to new staff and no other changes. My synergy has always been 1 for the last 2 seasons. What am I doing wrong?
Id love to know the answer to that too Luke, i have always shuffled staff as its the only real way of determining if someone is any good but aside from that im not sure what else has contributed to my terrible synergy. In the first season i focused on the synergy but that did nothing...
I agree it does need some slight tweaks. I think the best way to go which may also be the most realistic is to leave the big drop with any changes. But as it is in real life at the start of the season you expect new people to come in and for the old people to get pushed out. Maybe have week one as a week where you can change what you want. Makes sense to me. Start of season changes and anything that changes during the season has a negative impact on the team.
I think the solution is easier then that but maybe harder for Frank to change/implement and that would be to change the Synergy to groupings of individuals as it would reflect the whole teams synergy closer to real life.
Groups as Follows: 1. R&D: Mechanics & Design Heads; Juniors - used for the calculations of respective area as Frank as just implemented.
2. Commercial
3. Youth Program: Coach & Scout plus all drivers under the age of 18 are included
4. Drivers ( First, Second & Test plus any driver assigned over the age of 18)
This will allow each group to have their own collective Synergy and won't effect other groups but all four together make up the teams overall synergy. Each area can gain boost by having high synergy and morale with limited effects on team as a whole.
Take my work situation where we have different groups working in the same warehouse, 1 groups has very easy work and is extremely happy, 1 group has boring work and high turn over so they are indifferent and 1 group has hard work and isn't overall happy but we don't effect each others work environment or morale that much!!
I also think unused commercials could be assigned to general 'PR Work' to boost Morale / Synergy if they become surplus and to save doing nothing or being fired.
I think Robert says it as it is. As i mentioned earlier it seems silly that changing a scout will impact synergy and therefore design speed of the team.
Whilst some of the groups shouldn't have an effect on others, there are some that should.
Drivers should affect design as the design team needs to build the car for the drivers that use it and should be working with them to get the car just right. A new driver comes in and then the car needs to be adapted or the driver will suffer. Drivers should also affect commercials as a stable line up can often bring in better sponsors. Also good drivers can give a boost as everyone wants to be signed to the team that has a good driver.
Drivers can affect scouts as the scouts have something to base the reports upon however this is only a minimal link.
Designers should affect mechanics as the designs need to be sent to the mechanics to build it. A change in designer may see a different way of working and a different way of showing off the designs. Also certain designers may have certain ways of designing things on the car, all of which the mechanics need time to get used to.
@Adam: I agree but for the simple KISS method is where I was coming from and drivers would affect cars designs in different way then say synergy per say since most cars are designed around the drivers height & weight. Which is why most drivers are only 5 foot 5 inch to 5 foot 7 inch in height with a few odd really tall drivers. Most also weight 150-170lbs with only 1 that I can think of being heavier then that at the current moment. Which is where the drivers were complaining a few years back about.
I agree that this should be implemented as well but would have limited affects on synergy I feel.
