I payed him about 350k per week. It near killed me to do that.

Just to mention: sponsorship money has increased a lot compared to PW1, so it won't necessarily do again.

but that's not something he's likely to just give out

You know me too well already ;)

This is one area of the game now where Frank has a slight advantage over us, but then frank misses races here and there, and I don't think he's actually playing to win

Hah yeah no, I play it for real as it's a good way to get a feel of what needs to be improved. It's true that I actually do miss out on some races, but I'm less bothered with it as I don't think it would be good if I would win the division 1 title ;)
And very very honestly during development beta features are turned on that allow me to see how much they exactly want, but once they're on the live site I see the same as you guys. Sure I vaguely know the figures as I wrote them down, but that was months ago and I can't remember them exactly.

So reading this no one is upset about the changes, more that long contracts have been signed which may change dramatically as the goal posts have moved.

Option 1 is ignore it and suffer terrible moral
Option 2 is to cave and pay way more than you intended- and critically more than one would have if the negotiations started again tomorrow
Option 3 sack them and pay the penalties

My contracts aren't too long and I pay OK so I haven't been too far caught out.

I don't think anyone is asking for a renegotiation of every contract, but perhaps a one time break option to bin historical contracts without penalty? Would that make people happy?

The fact that it is staggered is what makes it a really good system. If they are only slightly underpaid it has a small affect on morale, but if they are massively underpaid it has a much greater affect.

Id personally like to factor in a wage reduction if relegated.... staff expect you to release them if relegated but you cannot request they take a pay cut at the moment.

It's typical that the 2/3 weeks where I have little time to play the game, a load of updates happen. :p

I've read through the forums on the issue of this thread and I generally agree with Frank. It did find it wrong that teams got persons signed to them for next to nothing. I avoided doing this for a long time but about Week 8, I resorted to doing it with a couple of people due to needing an urgent change.

Now, I have been a division 1 team since the start of the game and finished 2nd twice. Previously, in Beta I rose up from div 2 and won 2 of the 3 full championships I spent in Division 1, leading the shortened Beta season as well. In PW1, I built my team up from division 4 to the point where I was yo-yoing between Division 1 and Division 2.

In all this time, I have spent managing my finances each week to make sure I could afford what I need to do. In PW1 you used to have to pay for suppliers in 1 go at the start of the season so you needed to make sure you had enough money in the bank to pay for what you wanted. It did mean having to compromise on a few things though and I really think this is where the best teams separate themselves from the good teams.

In PW2, I have been paying some of these huge wages that you guys don't wish to pay. But because I'm in Div 1, I get the better sponsor deals which help fund it. I've managed my finances well enough to not be forced to stop development and I still gain a fair amount of money a week. What I'm trying to say is that if you are in Div 3, you shouldn't expect to have the best drivers in their prime. Div 3 is basically being in GP3 so you should expect to have up and coming drivers or drivers that are not going to make it at the top level. Same with the staff. Your income will be less as well so you have to manage things appropriately to get yourselves up through the divisions to then be able to get the top drivers.
