So im still not sure on this scouting business, trying to confirm a few things if anyone knows more than me....

- A scout will only scout a driver if they are involved in a race? What happens if they don't race, they will never get scouted? Can they not be scouted during in testing, a special scout session setup by the team or something.
- The star rating a scout gives to a driver does not indicate how good they are? Seems a bit silly if this is the case.
- Does anyone actually have a scout who can get all of a drivers stats with one scout? Seems impossible to me.
- A drivers skill can be based on their personality? So if they are a boring loser they wont be super fast?

Correct scouts only scout drivers if they are in a race, if they don't race then they will never get scouted (I really dislike that fact).

While Frank may say otherwise, I'm dead certain that the stars only indicate the drivers form when scouted. I've had a driver get 4 stars and 5 stars on 2 races he won, then on a race where he got ruined by safety cars, and finished out of the points he only got 2 stars.

I don't think it is possible for a scout to see everything in one go. At most they look at 4 stats, so maybe the greatest scout could get you stats for all 4 in one go, but I again doubt that.

Where do you see driver personality?

Also, when you first scout someone, you'll see their stats rated out of 3, the next time that skill is scouted it will be out of 5, and finally a third time will give you the rating out of 10

Likewise i think they should be able to scout them outside of the race, they should scout employed drivers when they are testing as they will have all the info needed from the team to be able to judge their potential. Could also invite them for a test if not employed and then scout them then perhaps?

Hmmm that stars idea sounds like it might bear weight you know, i will keep an eye on it.

Some scouting i do reveals a couple of stats right away and sometimes it takes 3 goes to get a couple, rather inconsistent, i guess it may be reflective of real life though.

Im not sure what the personality involves, probably charisma, but Robert mentioned it on his scouting help file addition.

Thanks for the last nugget of info, i hadn't picked up on that yet! :)

I only picked up on it myself about a week ago myself.

If scouting drivers could be done in testing, then it should be limited. Afterall, you can't test for overtaking and defending abilities when people are just doing laps. But other stats can certainly be found out, like Wet Weather, Cornering, Speed etc.

@tom: Remember the game was never meant for the scouts to show the driver skills this is where the driver character plays a role or hint towards what type of driver he might be.

More you scout the more information you find out so the last part of Matthews comment makes sense but I haven't seen this and yes, the stars seem to be driver form rather then potential of the driver!!

If a driver never races then you will need to sign them to scout them; but this will only be compared to your drivers and not by the scout so not stats!! Also think it's a bit silly!!

Thanks Robert :)

What is the driver character? His/Her charisma? Im not sure how any of those stats can point towards speed.

Also is there anything different about scouting staff? I have scouted one meneber of my staff 3 times and now his stats have changed after the 3rd time. What was funny is an interview said we had been seen talking and asked if i was going to offer him a contract, he already has a contract so i said no contract would be offered and he was happy about the interview lol!

So just to recap, scouts are kinda useless now? lol! ;)

Experience seems to make a big difference, not knowing the other stats I signed drivers with the most experience.

I think the more experience they have, the greater chance of the other stats being higher...

I believe the scouts do scout the youth races as well though? And scouts are definitely worthwhile in signing staff.

Yes Scouts do scout youth races.

The experience stat, my understanding is that the higher the experience, the higher the other stats are likely to be, but is not a guarantee.

I had a Superb experienced driver in beta, and he was worse than my Okay experienced driver.

Experience only stands for the amount of experience the driver has from testing & racing. When the beta started these where assigned randomly so you could find an all superb driver with terrible experience but that said very unlikely as majority ended up having some experience to hint towards his skills.

@tom: morale & motivation are the key character in determining a drivers speed values; morale drop so does his speed. Example is my number 1 driver right now!! Morale dropped after retirement from 3rd place on the last lap last week from good to terrible so he is worthless this weekend!!
