Rob - yes that would be realistic - however unfair as a game as it rewards successful teams with free engines and makes it harder for them to be beaten
Engines wouldn't be free since you really should be losing your level 5 sponsorship slot automatic when signing an Works contract thus losing between $1.5 million to $5 million per week or $19.5 to $65 million per season; this is already higher then if you simple paid for the works contract.
Only 3 teams have title sponsors and 1 of them is a works team. I think the issue with title sponsors in F1 at the moment is because teams can't get the right deal to do so, not because they are getting the money from elsewhere. 2013-2015 had 4. 2012 only had 3. 2008-2011 had 5. 2007 had 6. 2006 had 4. 2005 had 5. 2003-2004 had 6. 2002 had 9 with 4 out of the 5 works teams having title sponsors.
I think in the game you should have it where you can sign title sponsors with works packages. The supplier should only consider you for a works contract if you have been with them for a while.
I know, its not popular within the fanbase of F1, but from a team manager point of view it totally makes sense. Especially when the drivers are on different strategies and holding each other up (like in the race right now )
