1. Changing conditions cause cars to gain large amounts of time randomly
In races where the conditions change, some cars seem to gain a lot of time (Up to 1 minute) in one lap even when the sector/lap times don't show this. There seems to be no logical cause for this as some cars get large gains, others get none. Examples can be seen in any race with changing conditions, for example, div 1 s11 w5 and div 1 s10 w12.
2. Large difference in lap times between tyre compounds in changing conditions
Once the conditions change from needing wets to inters, inters to drys, drys to inters, or inters to wets, if you are a lap too late changing tyres to the correct one, you lose quite a lot of time. There is no gradual crossover point like you see in real life and would make the races a bit less of a lottery as messing up by one lap won't cost 15 seconds. Examples can be seen in any race with changing conditions, for example, div 1 s11 w5 and div 1 s10 w12.
3. More than two drivers can qualify and race
It is possible to qualify and race more than two drivers in a single weekend. This allows for added points, prize money, morale boosts, etc. This can be seen in div 3.13 s11 w3.
4. Engine settings can be increased to 999% during the race
During the race, you can change engine settings to 999% during the race. Not tried this personally as it is cheating but I have heard a couple of others trying it. It obviously improves lap time.
5. Synchronisation between the viewer and the racescript is out
Very difficult to watch races live when cars drivers are jumping up and down the screen when they spin, pit or retire. You usually see the standings area change before you see the text appear, particularly at pitstops when as soon as you start the lap, the cars pitting at the end of that lap start moving down the order, then jump up to where they were again. This happens repeatedly until you get the text message saying they have pitted. Personally, I find it too hard to follow what is going on when 2/3rds of the field is pitting in the space of 2 to 3 laps. Much easier to watch after the race.
6. Two cars of the same team can pit at the same time
Both cars of a team can pit at the same time and the second one doesn't get held up. This is not realistic and means slightly less thought needs to be put on strategy to avoid it. It was in PW1 so surprised it was not carried over.
7. Pit Stop times are not affected by fuel taken onboard
You can put any amount of fuel in the car and the pitstop will take the same length of time. This is not realistic and with this feature added, it would open up a lot more strategy options and potentially avoid so many of the trains that we tend to see. Again, this was in PW1 so surprised it wasn't carried over.
8. Tactics missing
The old tactics page of PW1 is missing which allowed for pitting when the safety car comes out, changing tyres when conditions were at a certain level, letting your team mate past, etc.
9. Setting strategy with too small a fuel tank gives no error
When you set up a strategy and put more fuel in the car than your tank allows, there is no error message and the page just resets to what it was before. Unless you know about this, it is difficult to work out what is going on. Some people have spent many hours trying to figure it out. Some people probably give up.
10. Inability to pit cars in test sessions
Being able to pull a car back to the pits during a test session would be useful, especially when you send them out on wrong equipment by accident or you have found what you need (ie revealed potential of a part).
11. Testing sees slow cars overtake faster cars
In testing sessions, cars lapping slower are overtaking faster cars. Not a major issue and more of a display bug but it gets commented on regularly. It happens in every test session when more than 1 car is on the track.
12. Clicking the race page always take you to the last completed lap
When you click on the race page after the race has started, the page always loads the last lap completed. It would be nicer if it could go straight lap 1 (or the last lap viewed if you were watching and then went away) so those who can't watch the race live, don't have to cover the screen to avoid spoilers. There is already a "go to live lap" button so those who want to jump straight to end can do so, or you could have it as an user option.
I don't follow the youth races as I don't see the personal benefit in youths as things stand so the below is just things I have heard from others.
13. Tyres blow up regularly and old tyres fitted at pitstops
I have heard that tyres, even without wear, still blow up during the race as they have a maximum lifespan. This is not helped by the fact that drivers pit and put on older sets that have been used and therefore blow up earlier than a new set.
14. Pitting on the last lap can give you two lots of points
Not sure if this is also for the main races or whether it still happens as I haven't heard too many instances recently but cars that pit on the last lap due to tyre failure get the points for the position they were in and the points for the position they ended up in.
These are the ones I can think of at the moment. I probably have missed some.
Other bugs mentioned below:
15. Sector times added up doesnt match lap time
div 1, season 11 week 5, lap 40, Nilsson
I dont know what happend there, but if you add up the sector times of lap 40 you would get a 1:53,79, but instead it took him 1:56,079.
div 1, Feederrace, S11W9, Jan Oblak, last stint (around lap 55)
There are 3 or 4 laps in the last stint, where there is +20s per lap, even though its not shown in the sector times, so the sector times do not add up to the laptime. I wonder why that occurred that often within 7 laps or so. Seems like a bigger issue.
16. Inters on dry track slower than wet track
div 1, s11 week 6, testing & qualifying, Nilsson.
I used inters in testing on a 4* wet track and the laptime is quicker! than on the dry track in qualifying. The car should be definitely faster on the dry track, but its about 10 seconds slower.
That is something that adds to the issue concerning 'unrealistic' laptimes in changing conditions and thus creating a lottery if you dont hit the right lap 100%.
17. Driver not stopping in spite of confirmed pitstop on race script.
https://imgur.com/YX66Aeo
because he didn't stop, i entered again a pitstop for a later lap, in which he finally did stop
it was the race in div 1, S11W9
18. Both drivers Finished on 3rd place
When original 3rd placed driver retired (out of fuel) on last sector of final lap.
Division 3.13, Season 11, Week 11.
- What a fantastic result for Mito Yamaoka as for completing the podium today by finishing third.
- It seems like Mito Yamaoka has run out of fuel. He throws his wheel out of his cockpit, he sure looks angry! What an embarrassing moment for him.
- What a fantastic result for László Hornyánszky as for completing the podium today by finishing third.
Renttu Racing also got 15+15+12 points from this race. Yamaoka's indivudual points were right (12 points).
