Actually the Chris, if they accept cheap contract it means they are probably not that good since they have a weak power position. If they ask for a ton then you know they have a strong power position hinting that they are good.
Chris, i have had a few contracts to renew already, and most of them seem to be going well, without asking for too much really. And I'm pretty sure I could sign some unknowns to similar contracts, because their power position will be horrible, the ones I have on the go now are all at Superb power position (well, they think they are, but if they actually knew me, they'd realise they either accept the contract and continue with one of the fastest teams in pitwall and a great chance at winning, or go join the unemployment line ).
But they want stupid amounts, okay yes i can understand 20/50k a week but 500k a week seriously, like seriously, if i had 2 staff on that then i would use at least 65/75% of my monthly income, this will ruin the game
the only issue is that my team is just about to go into div1, like i need drivers who can do well but like the drivers i have are good and were well paid, designers on the other hand are taking the mick,
Jake, if I win this week, then I'm probably in Div 1 also. The last 2 season's I've found about 10-15 good to great drivers, also found a great designer. All of them were unemployed by anyone before I signed them. There is plenty of gems out there to be found.
Also, I don't care if a driver/staff wants 500k, they are never going to get that kind of wage from me, I'll happily continue to live off of the unknowns
I just want to add as a point, I know a lot of people are freaking out over this, but if we are all in the same boat (ie none of us, or only those that are silly or mega rich) pay the huge wages, even if they demand it, then the drivers and staff won't get it. Their power positions will drop, and they'll have to settle for lower amounts.
I personally think the problems people are facing right now are because all of us are facing them at once. Just like signing people when pitwall reopened was hectic, and in beta when Frank did a reset on our teams at one point, again it was hectic as everyone scrambled for people. It'll calm down by the end of next season I'm sure.
Some great posts there Matt, I think you have summed it up well. I think everyone should figure out all there incomings and outgoings before figuring out how much to spend on hiring staff, I'm almost certain this game can be cracked without all superb everyone, tactics have won me many races so far an will continue too in the future I'm sure.
Hey Frank for the power position of staff/drivers. Do they take into account other drivers that are in the team coming through. e.g will my test driver realize that i have some drivers in the feeder and under 18s that are competing with him for the seat and maybe drop his pants a bit on what he wants?
