"....It has emerged that Lotus approached Michael Schumacher as a possible replacement for Kimi Raikkonen at the final two races of the season.
Lotus is expected to go with Heikki Kovalainen now, but reports in Germany said Schumacher was also approached to race at both the US and Brazilian Grands Prix. According to Schumacher's manager, the seven-time world champion turned the team down.
"Michael's performance against Nico [Rosberg last year] and Nico's performance against Lewis [Hamilton this year] made a lot of people aware of how good Michael still was," Sabine Kehm told Reuters. "Plus, he is still very fit. But he just feels so good in his new life."

"...McLaren has finally confirmed Kevin Magnussen as Sergio Perez's replacement for 2014, giving the 21-year-old Formula Renault 3.5 champion his Formula One debut next year...."
It will be interesting to see how Heikki does in the Lotus but I am not expecting too much as he has already down played his chances.
First I have heard of Michael being approached but it does make some sense since he would bring experiance to the team for their final two races. I would have liked to see Michael drive the Lotus as it would have been interesting to comparisons to Grosjean.
I think Grosjean could be a very good driver but haven't been sold on him being World Championship calabure.
Lotus seat seems to be still up in air for next season but Heikki doesn't beleave he has any chance of landing this seat. It seems it might be filled by Hulkenburg for next season. He reportedly turned down the drive for Lotus final last two races due to contract issues with Sauber & Ferrari.
Magussen has been quick at the lower levels so it will be interesting to see how he deals with the new tires and regulations for next season.
Must say F1 is going through some interesting changes for next season and I hope they don't let me down!!
"...On Monday the FIA revealed that from now on the final race of the season would be worth twice as many points as the rest of the races "in order to maximise focus on the championship until the end of the campaign". Under the new rules, next year's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will award 50 points instead of 25 to the winner, 36 instead of 18 for second place, 30 instead of 15 for third and so on throughout the top ten.
Vettel, who would have still won this year's title in India under the system but would have missed out on his 2012 title, made clear he was against the idea by suggesting it would not be accepted in football.
"Imagine it, at the last Bundesliga match there would suddenly be double points," he was quoted by Sport Bild. "This is absurd and punishes those who have worked hard for a whole season. I'm fond of the old traditions in Formula One and do not understand this new rule...."
double points in the final GP? and his fond of the old traditions? 9-6-4-3-2-1 yay
