Forum topic: New season development

Daft question maybe... but do your design concepts reset every year? I can't recall what happened! Just completed my Season 33 Chassis design and all the % are back to the beginning.

I do have a new engine provider, which may mean this is neccessary.

This is the first season where some discovered concepts have been removed (reached end of life), so we're all still getting our heads around it. It isn't the case for all parts but chassis is one of them. You can research concepts for season 33 onwards; no point doing that for season 32 now obviously.

Thanks for the reply Stephen. I hadn't picked up on this so I had invested a silly amount of designer points to reveal 2 new Chassis concepts this season that I have now only realised I can't carry over!

It would have been nice to have an 'Are you sure?' tagged to the development page for parts this relates to if it is the final season?

There may have been some chassis concepts from this season that carry through to next season, just seemingly not the ones that are discovered. I believe the end of life date is decided (but not published) when the concept is first created - it's just coincidence apparently all the known concepts have reached end of life at the same time. I agree with other comments, though, that major rule changes like that should be announced earlier. Also, if researching the current season's concepts is not going to be effectual the button to do it should be taken away.

I'm not sure if there will be a small cumulative benefit in investing points in research, even if you don't find a concept. As the system logs how many points are spent per part (and that seems to carry over each season) maybe the more points you invest the easier it is to find a concept longer term. Maybe I'm wrong and it's completely random.

It is possible to research concepts for season 33 - in the same way as you develop parts you press "season 33" in the top right hand corner of the research page.

Certainly a couple of components have fully - reset - the new generic floor concept is 0% with a potential of 5% on Aero! Lots of concept research coming up once I get a car in place...
