The issue at hand:

Part that DIDNT have test bed done: https://i.imgur.com/fD2ERcz.jpg

Same part that DIDNT have test bed done on production tab(but completely explored): https://i.imgur.com/kqlGQ29.jpg

Notice that even though part is FULLY explored, production tab still shows "Unknown for now". As a result when you actually produce the part and want to fit it on car, its stats are HIDDEN until you run certain amount of kilometers.

Notice that even though part is not fully explored, just its current stats due to test bed, production tab HAS its stats and it doesnt say "Unknown for now"... and as a result, after you produce the part and check it on cars tab: https://i.imgur.com/cJfVAHT.jpg

Notice that stats are REVEALED without doing any laps, or anything with it. It is already clearly visible the moment part was produced even before i fit it on car. Sure, it is now fit on car, but i knew immediately what the stats were, before doing any testing.

What's the issue?? Test bed reveals the parts ability when produced - great

The issue is that fully explored parts, that even have potential known and everything, are produced unknown.

And im assuming that is not working properly because production tab doesnt "pull" design stats when producing new one, but only when design finishes and produce table is "filled" and never again.

Shouldnt be too hard to "fix", if my assumptions how it should work are right. Just repopulate production tab tables if there is difference between original entry and new info from design table.

Also, that functionality is clearly not known to many (or anyone), and doesnt seem right. Why would test bed have more info about part than producing 20 of them and running 10000kms with them?

1. It makes test bed much more useful (pretty much everyone considers it useless)
2. It makes fully revealed parts being produced unknown seem quite wrong and strange

So i guess 2nd part is the issue here, as 1st part makes sense.

my 2ct:
forget the test bed topic in the current system and focus on beta - the current system will not be maintained.

But it is exactly the same there... Tested it and works the same.

If you fully explored part by testing it on track = produced parts have unknown stats

If you used test bed (very expensive, costs more points than design itself in many cases) = produced parts have known stats

So, same as here, just points instead of time and staff.

I am ok with this staying as it is. I already said it that this makes test bed more powerful and I am totally for it.

Is this loop hole research working? Has anyone got improvements?

It does work. Sometimes it can take a while to find them, sometimes there are none to be found.

How research work(ed, before new system will have been implemented - some when after season 13)
or at least what I understand it is...

e.g. Chassis
you can do:
1. research until x/10
2. develop til xxx%
(3.) test - not part of this post

when you do so and let say the research goes up to 10/10, the develop phase starts. No further research is done and drops (research level drop with time passing) to 9/10. When xxx% are reached the design phase is over and the ratings are calculated.

At this time in point the research level is 9/10 (90%) - lets say the dev. was up to 95% that means that the MAXIMUM rating of that part (potential) is 0,9*0,95*10 = 8.55 (displayed as excellent) +- skills of design crew (another riddle ;) ) - assume they are awesome - 10

but you will have the actual rating which is another factor and lower than the potential

In case you do research after starting the design phase the research level will stay up and the max rating might be up to 9,5 (95% of 10) - means Superb POTENTIAL - and again, not the actual rating - but most likely a bit better than without research after starting the development...

ergo - when you have to max out the potential you might need to to parallel dev and research - if not you should be fine with research before starting the design

AND another riddle - do the rule book limits have an affect to that system...

Statements from Frank (from the chat):

It's not because your research level is Superb when you start development that you're guaranteed to have a Superb part. What else would we have the design approaches for. Also, it's at the start of the development phase, not at the end.

The moment your research drops, is when the part (its performance etc.) is calculated (and thus when the research level is taken into account). This research level has an effect on how good the part is of course. The design approach also has an influence as in that it can give an exceptional good part, or a really bad part
