All I can say is someone or a few managers are extremely over paying their drivers in the bonuses department for sure!!

that should not be a problem when the median is taken for wage/boni calculation - except a lot of managers are over paying

How does anyone keep their team afloat with salaries like that?

I would imagine they don't. I'm sure Philip isn't paying anything near that currently, there's probably not a driver in the game earning those figures.

And this is an unranked driver who's driven one race?!

There's obviously an issue with the way the demands are calculated (or this is a very extreme exception). If it is indeed based on what other people are offering, could one team offer a driver 7 trillion and thereby make every other driver in the game unemployable ('because if he gets 7 trillion then I should get at least 3 trillion';), effectively ending Pitwall?

EDIT: There is a limit on the bonus field. It's 9,999,999 if you type slowly, but 999,999,999 if you hold the key down (although the game will only let you offer up to 100M)

100m bonus lol!

Obviously there is something wrong in this case but overall i dont think the salaries are that unrealistic to be fair, it's just the formulas for establishing wage demands are not correct.

For example Alonso, F1's biggest earner and one of the best drivers earns around 35 million per season. In a Pitwall season he would earn about 2.7 million per week! So as you can see the wages for top drivers in this game arent really far off the real world...

However... the worst paid driver in F1, Roberto Merhi, is undoubtedly a pretty good driver but only gets paid 50k per season, thats about 4k per week which is what id want to pay most of my staff.

So the issue in the game is that the difference between the top wage and the bottom wage and how it applies to the drivers in between is not calculated correctly (sorry Frank, you have a problem with your calc buddy :()

Id guess a team with excellent sponsors could rake in around 10 million per week from sponsor income, thats 130 million per season which is more than most teams get from sponsorship in F1, add to that the income from fans and we all earn more than enough to cover a big driver salary but we cannot cover that salary for everyone in our team. Im sorry Frank but again your Calc is wrong somewhere as junior designers wanting more than 1 million per season is mad, especially as we need a few of them.

Also the calcs dont seem to take into account the division a driver is in... a massive mistake. A driver winning 10 races in a one team championship in division 3 does not mean he should be zooming up the top 50 drivers and demanding loads of money because he thinks he is Hamilton. Sorry again Frank but you calc is wrong somewhere there too :(

So to summarise...

- The maximum wages demanded at the moment are fairly accurate, if that is it is a Superb driver demanding a huge wage.
- We all can earn enough to pay huge wages for select members of staff/drivers if we want.
- The calculations that determine which drivers/staff are worth paying out for are broke, they probably shouldn't be based on team success which i believe they are.

Im not sure how the calculations work for the salaries Frank but my thoughts are that you need a different calculation for each type of staff member. For example the calcs for drivers should be separate and then each staff type (Head/Junior) should have their own calc for each job type (mechanic, Coach, Scout etc etc) Only this way will it be possible to get them realistic i feel.

Also how the calcs determine driver/staff skill needs to be rethought. Fine if it works off ranking (Phil's post above suggests it doesnt...) but if it does then the rankings calculation needs some work so that staff/people in the top divisions are the ones making the big demands, after all it is only teams in those divisions that can get the sponsors to pay those wages...

Anyway ive rambled on too much for now but have a think about the calcs, the figures seem fine but the calcs are incorrect :)

you are forgetting as well that in real f1 the teams budget is between 80 mil to 400mil we only manage around 80mil unless we can get really good sponsors and of course the extra money from fans and prize when we are doing well -(which in my case is always a negative after paying bonuses!)

My sponsors arent that great and i can manage to get nearly 100mil per season. You are right though the big teams in F1 get a hunk of cash from the F1 commercial rights and thus can afford the expensive drivers, how we can replicate that within Pitwall (or even if we want to) is perhaps a question to ask.

Sato is an extreme example.. and he is supposed to be superb intelligent - his demands would fit a "terrible" intelligent one ;)

In general, there are still a lot of unknowns/ not experienced persons in the pool - some transparency in development would be nice to know if it is worth investing some seasons in them (and later not be able to effort them any longer) before hire them - releasing staff/drivers can get quite expensive

I'm guessing a large part of it is because the driver has only signed a contract in the last week or so and therefore at the start of their contract, therefore he's not so worried about not having a job in the future just yet.
