Is there any proven benefit of having lots of staff designing one part? I have never seen a part design faster with more than 10 staff. Any more there doesn't seem to be an increase in speed, so more staff doesn't equal speed really.

Throwing 30 designers on one part - is three a hidden benefit to that? Do parts design themselves more thoroughly and to a higher quality?

No, There is a set amount for how effective they work together so adding any more or having to few means that they simple don't work at 100%. This is up to you to find out what the right number of designers are needed.

This is also the same with production.

Again the answer is No. Having more designers simple slows down your design process and take other designers away from other jobs that they could be completing.

Only known way to increase a parts design more thoroughly & to a higher quality is to over develop them so when they reach 95%-100% Finished leave them for a longer period and you will get a small increase; how long is up to you to find out but also remember we have random element to designs with -3 to +3 swing so even developing them longer doesn't mean that they will be 100% an increase off what design you already have. Also factor in the research aspect now!!

Does having unassigned 'free' designers or mechanics speed things up? As in they are not all working so aren't worn out all the time?

No, They simple are not working. The worn out aspect is simple wording letting you know that you don't have enough staff assigned. It's a friendly play on words rather then stating you don't have enough staff assigned.

Staff don't ware out over time as they don't have any energy.
