What with all these ridiculous wages flying around, be it main drivers or 6 year olds commanding 50/60/70k a week, I do wonder if the current youth system is... pointless.

I get that you can train future stars to drive for you eventually. Sure.

But with so many training spots, and so many of them becoming divas with money, I wonder if it is really worth it wasting all the time, effort and money in developing them only to reach maturity and demand silly money so you never end up able to sign them as they aren't happy.

It's just as easy, if not easier (and cheaper) to poach another driver from another team who has spent money training them.

Where is the lloyalty? Where is the pride in being a home grown driver and doing absolutely anything / drive for free / small wages to the team that invested so much into them.

10 youth slots and 2 feeder ones. All of them asking bigger wages than what they can give back.

I don't really see the point in it any more, unless there is a MASSIVE lloyalty factor in the calculations that make them have smaller wages if they get to drive for you in the main league / higher leagues.

Higher % of lloyalty or low wage factor the more they climb the age ranks in your team.

That is what a youth programme is for.

You pay 50k for your youths? Anyone paying that much is foolish. I near run my entire youth program (not including feeder or coach) for that. Actually I think it is about 70k total before bonuses. I still run them for now, but with the silly contract figures going about I may abandon it entirely.

I don't personally, I have a graduate 18 year old on 25k soon to be the main test driver. But I have rejected some others on the basis they are expecting higher salaries than that.

I will probably ditch my youth system once my coach goes. He is available to anyone but his demands are crazy so there is a chance he will stay ha!

all my youths make 5k a week, except any that show actual talent, and they get 10k. I won't go higher than that.

my coach is on 30K and all my youth drivers 5 to 10 all till season 7 so if they complain they can jog on (not 5-10K btw). I'm just testing it out to see what happens without much outlay. I'm not planning on spending huge sums on a youth system because that money has to be used else where now.

Combined with the fact i don't seem to be getting many scout reports atm I have no clue how good the drivers are anyway

I guess if the drivers could be brought from you if they are under contract it would make it some what worth while....

James, I've already extended a bunch of contracts for my youths. I only really have them because to not have them makes me feel like mondays and tuesdays are basically wastes and doing nothing.

Given the impact of moral on other things its quite possible youths with low moral will experience a lack of improvement, therefore in a sense it could pay to pay...we shall see i guess.
