So the new rules have come in and we are seeing more and more drivers signing for new teams. This is great although im not sure whta happens to the driver in limbo between when his current contract ends and his new one starts...

1. If a driver is signed by another team and then released by his current team he just twiddles his thumbs for a few seasons ? What about young youths, they will miss out on training?

2. If a driver is signed by another team but kept on by his current team then he may well be left without any kind of drive for a few seasons, especially if he is a youth driver. Under the new rules he will eventually miss enough races to be released perhaps, see point 1. If he still has his old contract then the current team can just keep him locked up somehwere for a few seasons before his contract expires?

I think what happens to the drivers, especially the youths, needs some thought or we will never see any of them really reach their potential :(

For example i signed up this youth driver: http://pitwall.org/person.php?id=125471

He has spent the whole of last season doing nothing and will spend the whole of this season doing nothing too. Wont be worth training him up when he comes to my team as he will be so far behind :(

I actually agree Dan, might just cancel the whole youth programme as it needs a fair bit if work to be useful right now.

Tom, you can try signing a contract with him while he is in the limbo.

That's because he isn't approachable. You can't do anything then because he is with another team unless that team allows him to leave.

Jean, the driver isn't with a team, that's the problem. He got released by his old team, and wont join Tom's until his contract starts, but no one else can offer him a contract now

Yes Matt is right, i tried it with the driver that has been released and is currently not attached to any team. Im hoping he may race in some feeder races while he is out of work, perhaps Frank can comment?

Some other drivers i have signed will stay with their respective teams but understandably they will not race them as there are no incentives to use their best drivers in the youth system. Slightly different for older drivers as they will still get used as there is money to win! :)
