Forum topic: Research level

I don't get it. I have a top draw designer and a almost top draw assistant and max research is okay! most of my parts are able to be developed to superb or close. - so no point me doing any new parts or research then?

Think about it this way Dan... do you think Red Bull or Mercedes have one or two lead designers heading work on all parts? Nope. This change makes it more realistic.

With 2 lead designers they will be strecthed between managing design of all parts so they will not be able to commit a lot of time to each, therefore the maximum research level possible is going to be reduced. Get more lead designers working for you and it will free up time for the current two and if their levels are good it will increase your research.

In the comapny i work for we have different levels of engineer, a Junior Process Engineer, a Process Engineer, A Senior Process Engineer, and finally a Principle Process Engineer. The top level (Principal) will be responsible for overseeing design within a project, if he only gets one senior engineer and a couple of juniors for a project then it will be completed but they would be stretched (as the priciple and senior will likely be working another project at the same time) so it may just be to an Okay standard. However give him 2 senior engineers, 3 standard engineers, and a couple of Juniors then the project will be a success and be very well designed due to the Principle being able to spread his ability more evenly and get the team designing good things. Its all about teamwork and thats the way it is going in Pitwall now, you guys need to build a team!!

Basically the days of one designer being able to work like Superman and do it all are gone, by the sounds of it both you and James did very well from this so all is not lost, just use that as a springboard with your Superb parts and you will do just fine

The thing is, this latest change means that it will take even longer for new teams to get competitive - by the time they have built the facilities needed to employ a decent number of junior designers.

This is true Nelson but it is also very realistic... you dont just walk into F1 and win things right away, even Red Bull took a while to get going and they bought and already functioning team.

There is the option for new players to take over current teams so it may be that they dont have to start from scratch. Whatever they do they should still be able to be competative in Div 3 from the off.

I think max research is Okay for most. Me included with Superb designers.

Curious to see how the new change relating to part degradation will work, I have my concerns...
