Imagine you sign a driver up from season 4 onwards but he will see out his contract with his current team.

The current team don't use him because of this and he gets left on the scrap heap pile for nearly 2 seasons...

Can we have some way to negotiate an early release for signed drivers? They are being waste otherwise :(

And what would happen now if he was released?

I believe if they are released they join your team.

And while the early release is a nice idea, I can see it getting abused (hording drivers, then making false accounts to negotiate said early release for extra money)

i agree - to make it simple staff shouldn't be signing contracts more than 1 season in advance - ie they only think about negotiating when there current contract is ending that season - no driver in f1 signs a contract more than 6 months before current one ends

Thats true Dan, maybe that's a better option for the future, they only sign contracts in the last season of their current contract...

This definitely won't be changed, but a future change is coming that specifies a minimum number of races per driver. And the drivers with very high power position will never accept a low number. With that implementation, this should also be kind of fixed.

That sounds like a good idea Frank, a little more realistic as will stop great drivers from just twiddling their thumbs and not racing. Interesting that you touch on the power position too... does this mean we will get some drivers who we can ignore due to them not wanting to race in lower divisions?

@Frank: just make sure that test driver doesn't ask for any races since I don't want to race my test driver when I sign a number 1 & 2 driver for such roles.

Also will youth drivers understand the difference between man races & youth races or will it apply only to main races meaning youth drivers shouldn't ask for a races either!!

Make your you cross your T's and dot your i's on this!! :p

I agree, Test Drivers should have a minimum of zero races, as they are test drivers, not race drivers.

And as Robert said, Youth Drivers need to understand the difference between youth and main races. I'm fine if they miss youth races and that can cause them to leave, but not missing main races.

Yep, it's one of the things that is coming up. I feel it's too predictable and linear to know what the person wants. I want a more realistic approach where some things can make a big difference. You can compensate the fact that you're a low team by offering more money. Or you can compensate a lower salary by offering a higher position etc. Just more real life negotiations (where it's a mix of + and -).

Also the ambition stat of each person will play a bigger role where some people just don't care about their career, and more live in the moment.

One of the things that will be included is the power position of each person. So yeah, some youth drivers will be brats that know that they deserve races. I want to have at least hard coded things as possible (to a certain degree of course - test drivers indeed does not make much sense to have them have races).

Well Frank, Youth drivers that think they deserve races are going to find themselves booted from my team quick smart... Unless it's McPhail or Heß, then they'll probably have race seats anyways xD
