And with broken tyres the driver still not coming to pit untill something else force him to retire

Personally, I was able to get them to last longer. It does depend on more than just lowest settings.

Its not the fact that they last very little its the fact that they dont last even half of the duration
Skill of drivers maybe gains 5-10 km not more
setup from 1 to 10 gives an extra 25-50 km maximum

40 km with soft tyre and they are on teriblle condition
Broken in 50 km i will use chewinggum on races last much more :)

It also really depends on the track surface. But I agree, the km's don't really say much right now. It used to be used in the back end, but not any more since the tyre condition stat was introduced.
