From what Frank has said research levels should have quite a big impact on the outcome of a part however if you base the part on one already designed then it should inherit that parts stats rather than based mostly on the research level.
If this is the case then something may need to be changed as top teams with top cars will just not do any research (saving money) and just evolve their parts each season and stay compatative, a huge advantage over those just starting out and one that would make it much much harder to try and reach the top.
I am going to produce a load of parts based on my avearge parts this season and then raise the research level before producing new parts to see what impact the research level has. Will be interesting to see the outcome...
I am happy again with the research model. I thought I was stuck at V. good, but now have two parts at Excellent, so progress is there, but takes longer to get to higher levels.
Is the part value based on research level taken at the very moment in which you start it? ie, start design when research is 'Bad'.
But if you keep researching whilst developing, and research improves to 'Very Good' whilst the part is still developing (say, 50% done), does the part adopt the current rate of research when it completes (ie, Very Good) or the value when it began (ie, Bad).
When developing a new part, the research levels drops down instantly rather than gradually so for that reason I assume it's the level when you start that matters.
Which was annoying last week when I accidentally started developing my new chassis for Season 3 instead of 4. It meant when I realised my mistake I had to restart with a lower research level than I'd hoped for
Yeah, I was thinking what the point in researching WHILST designing the same part was for, but I guess it's only needed if you intended to design a new part after the first is drawn up, and you want to hit the ground running.
Next season is going to be interesting. Teams that have built their car already should be okay; but those only just or partway are going to struggle once the research thing comes into play fully.
Those who already developed can base again on the parts made in the 'good old days' - so will be able to stay slightly ahead of the game.
Yeah, more staff teams to both design and research. I guess that's when the big Div 1 boys will need it because it will be non-stop on all fronts, hence the need for a much bigger HQ and modules.
