With Vettel dominating like Schumacher i have given up watching formula 1 for good, i just don't want to see this happening twice. Instead i jumped over to watching 2 day delayed Indycar series. It's far far more interesting then formula 1 although there is still a little processional racing from time to time, but it beats F1 this season. last round on that one unfortunately, still thoroughly enjoyable experience. Favorite driver is Simon Pagenaud, hes certainly champion material and just needs more consistency from his team.
So does anyone watch F1 any longer because of the Vettel dominance?
No I haven't been following F1 that much this year as I have spent most of my time hiking in the Canadian Rockies. As for my other reason, yes, it's due to Vettel. Simple a very good driver in a best car equals boring racing but I will say Indy isn't much better as you only have a handful of teams that can compete for the championship every year from Team Target, Team Penske & Team Andretti but that is what made Simon run this year so great!!
As for next year, I don't know how the new rules will change the racing in F1 but from things I am hearing is the racing may not be that great with the new engines. A huge youth movement seems also on the cards with Massa & Webber out.
I will watch like always the first few races before vettel takes over and isn't worth wasting my time getting up at 4am to watch the races. It been so bad this year that even our sports channel covering the race doesn't even provide highlights. LOL!!
As for the Booing of Vettel and some say it's not deserved!! I agree a bit as its simple the nature of F1 these days and really in the past when you look at what Schumacher did!! It been a tough series to follow as the car dictates the result and not the driver. Yes, the driver must be good enough to keep the best car out front but doesn't have to put the same effort as other driver in a bad car.
Would like to see inverted fields in F1 to force teams not only to think about Aerodynamic performance but Mechanical grip & downforce as they need to pass other cars. Maybe even two races during the weekend with a Sprint and Feature race. Points must also be fixed as the championship needs to go longer to keep my interest up until the end so maybe even more focus on the other battles instead of top teams and drivers.
well it's not always target or penske on top, granted there have been a few lucky breaks for dixon and power, not so much for castroneves (what rotten luck at fontana!), but you seen conway, sato, pagenaud, kimball and hinchcliffe come up and win races, i mean that is far more varied then in f1 where you see maybe 3 or 4 different winners a season, and typically the same drivers. you never see the likes of a rookie or an underrated driver like de silvestro, munoz or filippi getting close to the top like they did this season. in f1 it's just not seen because as you say the cars in f1 dictate how the season works.
I was also surprised by Toro Rosso signing that Russia kid as well, Nuno. never heard of him before although there is some info that he competes in f3 and gp3, the former he is not doing so well in and the latter has him only a few points off the title lead with Yas Marina to race later on. Toro Rosso may have signed something special.
And really no point watching the rest of the season unless they allow young drivers a chance to take Vettels seat!! LOL!!! I love pointless races so I am going to get up at 4am to watch the remaining races!! LOL!!
I think the Russian Kid was signed due to his age more than anything else and when you look at the comparisons to the de costa kid that was favoured; he does seem to have a better season and skill set!! We will see next year!!
