Perhaps a member of your design team has seen an increase in their skills Dan? Occasionally these changes revert back to the norm after a while so perhaps it was just a blip.
Or maybe Frank is making some changes... who knows... if its a positive outcome though then all the better i guess.
It is a big jump yep, ive only ever seen mine jump one level after a change in workload.
Current ability will drop steadily throughout the season along with potential but there is always a chance as you revise a part you discover more about it and raise the potential level sufficiently in order to negate the drop and bump it up a level.

No, the number of staff assigned to a project only have an effect on the speed of which the part is finished.
#20 by Daniel Stevens I really dont know how this all works! - this is coming from the research thread as well. My max research has suddenly jumped from very good to superb - great! but why? I have no idea all staff moral are the same and i have not changed anything else! Also some of my parts current rating has dropped - but the potential increased!!! I really have no idea anymore
This was due to the change I did on Monday. Motivation plays a less big role now as before.
