but of course.. you do not want to be uncompetitive at the start.. and get stuck behind all those cars.. that costs more time than almost anything else I find.

Yes Micheal, getting stuck behind a slower car can be the end of your race, right from the start. I've had races this season where i could have been around 1s a lap faster or more, but couldn't pass and my race was ruined.

I have run mock races in testing a few times, looking at 1,2 and 3 stopping, and every time, 2 and 3 stopping were just about neck and neck, with 2 stopping just ahead. 1 stopping is too slow. But there needs to be some sort of change. I like the idea of using both compounds because:
1) replicates the real F1
2) adds a new strategic element having to use the slower harder tyres.

John, if I had to use the Hard tyre too, I'd just leave it every single week for my final stop where my race is basically already sorted bar retirements/spins. And I'm sure many other people would do the same.

Thats a good point Matthew, I probably would, but in a close division then it could make a difference.

John, with the troubles with passing, track position is all important. Run your early stints on the soft tyres, get that track position, then hold it in the final stint. That'll be my strategy every single week if we have to use both compounds, unless we get something like DRS added to the game to help with passing.

That's my point of view anyways.

yeah this is why I sometimes drop in an extra stop, just to get the speed upfront. I reckon that 4 places on the grid can be worth just 15 secs or more in lost potential race time.
